Featured Artist: Taraneh Hemami
Taraneh Hemami’s multidisciplinary works explore the complex cultural politics of exile through personal and community projects and installations. She has exhibited widely, including locally at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (Ban5 and The Way that We Rhyme, 2008), Intersection for the Arts (Most Wanted, 2007 and One Day/Tehran, 2009) and internationally including Siggraph (2007), the ISEA/ZeroOne (2006), and 6thSharjah Biennial (2003).
Hemami has received awards from Kala Art Institute, the Creative Work Fund, San Francisco Arts Commission, California Council for the Humanities, San Francisco Foundation and the Christensen Fund. Hemami has been an Artist in Residence at CSU Fullerton, Kala Art Institute, The LAB, Center for Public Life at the California College of the Arts, Djerassi Resident Artists Program, and Montalvo Center for the Arts.
